This session was truly one of a kind! Working with Fiona and her mare, Luna, was such an amazing experience. I am truly blessed to be a Texas equine photographer. Working with horses is such a huge part of my life, and I adore every bit of it. I love everything about these animals, and it’s even sweeter to capture moments between them and their loving care takers.

Fiona’s husband contacted me to set up this session as a gift – major husband award points! What a clever idea. I am just excited that he chose me to be a part of it. This session was photographed at the beginning of January. We ended up having to postpone it one week because of the cold weather. Even though Luna moved from Scotland to Texas, she is not a fan of the cold weather! What a funny horse she is. This sweet animal is a Rheinlander mare, and is quite the traveler. Fiona originally purchased Luna in Germany where she was born, and moved her to Scotland where Fiona and her husband were living at the time. When work brought them from their home in the UK to Houston, of course there was no question on whether Luna would go with them. I find it amazing that this precious family would go through all of that in order to bring their horse along with them. I guess Luna is a true member of their family. What an amazing story.

Our session took place at Luna’s home at the dressage-focused facility at The Woodlands Equestrian Club in Tomball. Fiona chose this barn so she could continue to ride and train Luna in her preferred discipline of dressage. It has everything they need for the comfort and training of sweet Luna. Fiona looked stunning with the lovely Luna, and it was so fun to watch them ride together.

The weather turned out to be perfect for the occasion. We were glad to be in Houston, because a session like this is not something you can do in other parts of the country in the cold month of January. Fiona had the most beautiful and natural smile the entire time. We even got a few photos with her husband, which turned out amazing! This is truly a wonderful family, and I am glad I was able to document these heart warming memories for them.
